Hey, this is People Watching, where we help you discover under-the-radar people.
People:
John Nerst’s blog is called “Everything Studies.” He describes it as follows: “My title and tagline aren’t jokes. This blog is about everything, or at least everything my nerdy, hyperabstracted thinking style can be applied to. I’m a thirty-something generalist with “Analyst” as a job title and with math, philosophy, history, computer science, economics, law, psychology, geography and social science under a shapeless academic belt. As a result my thoughts are mostly about how different fields of study, ways of thinking and people differ from each other and how some pattern somewhere looks like another pattern somewhere else.” You can read it here.
Elliott Cost makes special fish, a “community word processor” for writing, poetry, journaling, and logging. He also has a unique subdomain library for his personal site.
Suspended Reason is an independent researcher writing essays about “erisology, ecology, surrogation, limerence, generalized reading, and cognitive aesthetics.” You’d have fun poking around their personal website - and learn about the non-profit press they run, the books they’ve written, and the numerous essays they’ve created.
Zachary Yedidia is a “computer science PhD student at Stanford interested in computer systems, hardware, and compilers.” He’s built a bunch of projects ranging from a text editor to a small operating system to trivia. You can check out his site here.
Ezekiel Aquino think of himself as “an eclectic (multidisciplinary) mix; part designer and developer, I've given up on trying to absolutely define myself.” His personal website has a cool piano on it.
